Maple & Market

Finally! Week 1 of my school has ended :D
It was pretty okay I guess.. the week passed by really fast but classes aren't as fun as they were because my friends and I got split into different classes for this semester! :(
Anyways, on the last week of my holiday, I went out with Gina and we went out for the whole day but this post will just be about our first part of the day.
We decided to look for affordable cafes where we can chill at and enjoy cakes and I found this!
& Thanks to Gina we found our way there easily :)
It's located at Dakota and it's under the HDB blocks, quite hidden but you can smell the cakes before you even see the cafe!

By the way, Gina blogged about this cafe + many other cafes!
Personally, I really enjoy reading her blog posts..? Hahaha I think her contents and way of writing is really interesting :)

Back to the post!
So many pretty and delicious cakes!! :O
I think they're really affordable as the average prices of the cakes are $5!

I think this was the rose cake which tasted like strawberry cake.
I chose this cake because it was so pretty but I liked the next cake better :D
^ lol we were wondering if the roses were just for decoration or can they really be eaten but anyways.. we didn't actually eat them x)
 Their bestseller!
Gula Melaka and Kaya cake which I liked the most because I think it was the least creamy. The cake was really moist and the coconut flakes gives it an extra texture which was so good! :D
Plus points also because I really like G.M and Kaya hahah.
Lavender Butter cake I think.. which tasted a lot like the butter cake my aunt bakes except, I would say my aunt wins at baking butter cakes :)
For drinks we ordered the.. Lavender and Earl Grey tea which was very soothing.
Although I was expecting the Earl Grey to be stronger tasting..I mean.. if you know your teas, Earl grey has a strong flavour but I guess it's called Lavender and Earl grey for a reason. The taste was 50:50, something new for a change :)
The cafe is quite small but the ambiance there was really nice because although the seating area were limited, you couldn't feel like it's really cramp inside. It had a really chill atmosphere..

Also, they incorporated a bit of the old school stuff like, in the picture below, the legs of the table we sat on was the old type of sewing machine + they also sell old school drinks which we regret we didn't try!
Totally worth the visit and would totally return to this cafe to try more of their cakes :D

That's all for this part!
